Privacy Policy

Effective October 18, 2026

damienriehl.com is the personal website of Damien Riehl. It is not a business. It has no user accounts, sells nothing, and shows no ads. This policy covers the whole site, including its interactive pages and the personal tools described below.

Browsing the site. The site uses no analytics, no advertising and no tracking cookies. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which handles standard technical data (such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Cloudflare’s handling is described in its privacy policy.

Contact form. If you use the contact form, the name, email address, subject and message you enter are emailed to me through Cloudflare. I use them only to read and answer your message. I don’t add you to any mailing list, and I never sell or share your details. To block spam, the form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks your browser for signs of automation.

Embedded videos. Some pages show videos hosted by YouTube or TED. Those services may set cookies and collect data when the video loads or plays, under their own privacy policies.

Fonts. Some interactive pages load typefaces from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the page loads.

Settings in your browser. Some interactive pages remember choices such as a light or dark theme in your browser’s local storage. Those settings stay on your device and are never sent to me.

Links to other sites. The site links to many other websites. Their own privacy policies apply once you leave this site.

Personal tools and Google data. I run some personal tools for my own use that connect to my own Google account. One of them, conference-contacts, turns photos of conference badges and business cards into entries in my own Google Contacts. With my permission it uses:

  • Gmail: to send summary emails of new contacts. It does not read my mail.
  • Google Contacts: to add and update my own contacts.
  • Google Calendar: read-only, to look up which conference I was attending.
  • Google Drive: read-only, to read my own Google Takeout exports of my photos.

This data stays on my own computers and in my own Google account. Badge and card images are read by one or more AI models that I use under my own account. Nothing is sold, shared with advertisers, or used to train AI models. These tools’ use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Access can be withdrawn at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Children. The site is not directed at children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect their information.

Your choices. To ask what I hold from your messages, or to have it deleted, contact me through the link below.

Changes. I may update this policy. The effective date above shows the latest version.
